Maxine was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to Clinton and Hazel
(Widdison) Morgan. Her father was in the Army and Maxine,
along with her parents and two sisters, moved often while she
was young. The family lived on Army bases in Washington,
Japan, and California where her dad retired.
Maxine attended several schools: in Washington state, at an
Army base in Japan, and throughout central California. She
attended Brigham Young University where she majored in
Dance and Physical Education.
It was at BYU that she met her future husband, Doug Robinson.
They married on August 25, 1966, in Oakland, CA.
Maxine and Doug moved several times throughout their
marriage, following jobs and education opportunities, living in
Washington, Utah, California, Illinois, Oregon and back to
Washington.
As an adult Maxine spent much of her life serving as mother to
her six children. She devoted most of her time to their care,
upbringing, and activities. She was actively involved as a
volunteer with Silverton Swim Team, Cub Scouts, and other
youth groups. She could regularly be found in the stands at
sporting events and in the auditorium for musical and drama
performances.
She held several jobs over the course of her life, including as a
key punch operator, secretary, classroom aide at Silverton
Union High School and as an associate at the Emporium
Department Store in Kelso, WA.
She passed away at PeaceHealth St. John Hospital in Longview,
WA after a brief illness.
Maxine dearly loved her family, and was a devoted wife,
mother, and grandmother. Family gatherings were some of her
favorite times. Maxine loved crafts and scrapbooking and was
well-known for the beautiful, hand-made cards she created and
gave at birthdays and other special occasions. She loved
dancing in her younger years as well as socializing with her
friends. She developed a love of poetry at an early age, and
enjoyed reading, putting together puzzles and playing games.
She leaves behind her husband Doug, as well as 6 children –
Joelle Wilson (Mark), Keven (Wanda), Neil (Heidi), Amanda
Davis (Patrick), Stephanie Aldred and Marshall (Staci). She has
seven grandchildren – Emma Denniston (Kiefer), Hannah
Wilson, Gabriel McGee, Carolyn Wilson, Sami Robinson, Lily
Robinson, Ellie Robinson, and one great-grandchild Apollo
Denniston.
She was preceded in death by her parents and by her sisters
Linda Drummond and Karen Jacques.
A celebration of life will be held on August 19, from 4 to 6 pm,
at the home she and her husband shared. Interment will be at
Green Hills Memorial Gardens in Kelso, WA.
